The earlier ban was imposed on popular apps which included TikTok, SHAREit, UC Browser, Helo, and WeChat. The telecom companies had been ordered to block access to all those apps, the same had been directed by the government through a press release.

The apps were deemed to be a threat to the sovereignty of India, and came in light of India and China’s Galwan Valley clash.
