Bhubaneswar : The Odisha High Court today reserved its verdict on a bail petition filed by BJD MLA Pravat Biswal, who was arrested by the CBI for his alleged complicity in the Seashore Group chit fund scam in September.
On Thursday, the CBI directed the investigating agency to submit the medical report of the MLA and also the details of investigation in the case by Friday, while hearing the bail plea filed by the Cuttack-Choudwar legislator.
Biswal has moved the court for bail citing poor health condition. Soon after his arrest on September 19 by the central investigating agency, the three-time MLA fell sick and admitted to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. Later, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack as his condition deteriorated and since then he is undergoing treatment at the SCB.
Meanwhile, two social activists from the State filed a petition in the Supreme Court praying for transfer of the case from Orissa High Court to Kolkata High Court on Wednesday. On the other hand, BJP youth wing staged a road blockade in Cuttack protesting against the MLA’s long stay at the hospital.
