Two GRP Personnel Suspended in Jharsuguda for Smuggling Ganja

Jharsuguda: Two personnel of Government Railway Police (GRP) Jharsuguda were suspended today for their involvement in smuggling ganja in the vehicle of DSRP.

GRP SP Trinath Patel informed that Purnachandra Patra, the driver at DSRP Jharsuguda, and Ashrit Kumar Pradhan, a constable at GRP, Jharsuguda, have been placed under suspension.

On August 29, Sambalpur’s Rengali Police had intercepted a police van at Ramapada Chhak and upon search around 21 kg of contraband was seized vehicle. Following this, the police had arrested the driver Purnachandra and seized the contraband along with the vehicle. Rengali Police registered a case under NDPS Act 20 (b), 5 (c) in this regard, and forwarded the accused to the court.

Later, the GRP formed a departmental probe committee and during the course of investigation found the two accused personnel involved in ganja smuggling. Subsequently, the duo was suspended.
