The Chennai Super Kings, who currently occupy the second-last spot in league standings, clash with the Delhi Daredevils in the eighth match of the Pepsi IPL 2014.It is not often that teams post more than 200 runs on the board and yet end up on the losing side. But that is precisely what happened to MS Dhoni’s team in their season opener, against Kings XI Punjab. Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith set up the match beautifully for their side, before Glenn Maxwell and David Miller blew away the CSK bowlers to guide KXIP to a convincing six-wicket victory.
Delhi Daredevils, meanwhile, started their season with a big loss against RCB, but recovered quickly to trounce KKR in their second match. Stand-in skipper Dinesh Karthik set up his team’s run-chase, before JP Duminy played the role of finisher to perfection, picking the one bowler and identifying the one over that would seal the match decisively in favour of his team.
Kevin Pietersen – the regular skipper of the Delhi Daredevils – had indicated during his team’s previous match that he had almost recovered from the finger injury that had forced him to sit out the first couple of games. It is still unclear if he will start tomorrow’s game.
