Motorcycle Lifting Gang Busted In Bhubaneswar; 3 Held, 7 Bikes Seized


Bhubaneswar: Laxmisagar Police have busted a motorcycle lifting gang in Bhubaneswar with the arrest of three persons and seizure of seven stolen bikes on Saturday night.

The arrested persons have been identified as Mahesh Sahoo alias Bulu of Coolie Sahi, Rabi Behera of Delang area in Puri and Samal Singh of Laxmisagar Upara Sahi.

When asked, Laxmisagar IIC Dayanidhi Nayak stated that the trio is history-sheeters and was earlier involved in bike lifting cases. They were also found to be booked under the NDPS Act.

According to reports, on Saturday morning, miscreants stole a motorcycle, belonging to one Soumya Ranjan Patra, parked in front of the latter’s house at Oscar City on the Canal Road.

Following this, Patra lodged a complaint and an investigation was initiated by Laxmisagar Police. During a vehicle checking at Yatri Niwas on Saturday night, the cops intercepted the trio on a bike and upon enquiry they came to know that the bike was stolen this morning.

Later, during interrogation, the trio confessed about their crime and revealed the location where they had hidden the other stolen bikes.

At least seven stolen bikes have been seized from the location. The accused trio will be forwarded to the court on Monday, said the police.
