Puri: The Lord Jagannath temple in Puri will remain closed for three days from December 31 to January 2, 2022. This was informed by Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief Krishan Kumar.

According to Krishan Kumar, the Temple will remain shut on December 31 and January 1 (the New Year day) with an aim to prevent huge rush of the devotees. The temple will remain closed on the following day as well i.e January 2, 2022 for regular sanitatisation activities on Sunday.

Darshan of the deities by the devotees will be prohibited during the closure of the Srimandira for these three consecutive days, Krishan added.

The decision to prohibit public darshan on New Year was taken during a crucial Chhatisanijog meeting held today.

It is to be noted here that lakhs of devotees from different parts of the world throng the temple to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath and his siblings on New Year day.
