In a shocking incident, noted journalist Jimuta Mangaraj has passed away after suffering a major road mishap near Janla chhak in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar today. As per sources, Mangaraj was returning from Khordha to Bhubaneswar at around 9 pm today on his scooty numbered OD 02 BO 9402 when he met with the accident.
Upon confirmation of his identity from his ID card, he was immediately rushed to Bhubaneswar AIIMS with the help of an ambulance. After a preliminary check-up, hospital doctors declared him brought dead.
Due to shutdown restrictions, no eyewitnesses have been identified due to which the exact circumstances under which Mangaraj suffered the mishap is yet to be ascertained but spot examination by police soon after the incident has revealed that it was a major accident.
Mangaraj is a known face in the media sector in Odisha and is credited to have mentored many influential journalists who have gone on to make big names. His untimely demise has caused a big loss to the fraternity of journalists.
Several noted personalities including noted journalists have expressed deep condolences at the passing away of Mangaraj.
Senior journalist Prasanna Mohanty condoled his death as an irreparable loss in his life. “Jimuta was a very close friend of mine and we had worked together on a number of occasions. He was a top academician with a number of PhDs to his name and had compiled several books. His death is an inexplicable loss to all.”
Noted journalist Rajaram Satpathy recollected his years of friendship with Mangaraj. “Jimuta and his family have been known to me for long. I cannot believe that I have lost him,” said a heartbroken Satpathy.
