Mumbai : Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has stopped work on Aarey metro car shed project saying not a single leaf will be cut.
The city’s green lung Aarey Colony had last month witnessed protests against felling of trees for the work.
Thackeray said he could be the first Maharashtra Chief Minister who was born in Mumbai. “It is going on in my mind, what I can do for the city,” the Chief Minister said.
It may be recalled that in October, a Supreme Court bench had called for a status report with pictures on plantation and felling of trees in Aarey Colony.
